As part of a large Portuguese and South African JV I worked out the procurement process to fit the budgetary constraints even inviting Korean suppliers to help come in with innovative solutions improving life-cycle costings.

– 2006, UK with a top 10 contractor and services provider working with government agencies

– 2016, Gas Powered Turbines producing electricity for the Nigerian State of Edo with Siemens and Julius Berger PLC

Africa, contracts manager tasked with Joint Venture oversight for the largest civil engineering contractor in Nigeria that had teamed up with the leading German global engineering and technology services company to build an USD 800 million Gas Fired Turbine Power Station.

– 2017/18, Commercial negotiation and advice on 40+ contracts for a leading electrical player based in Ashby de la Zouch

– 2017-21, Part of Owner’s Representative Team on £160m residential builds in Birmingham

– 2019/21, Employer’s Advisor on a £1.5m Student Accommodation project in Coventry including adjudication

MEET IAN HEAVEY

  • Chartered Quantity Surveyor (MRICS).
  • Studied at (then) Birmingham Polytechnic for a first degree followed by a year attached to Loughborough and Coventry Universities for a second degree in European Construction Engineering.
  • Majored on the acquisition thinking of the top five UK civil engineering contractors and published “UK contractors’ acquisitions strategy for Central and Eastern Europe (Engineering, Construction and Architectural Management Volume 7 Number 3, September 2000 – Blackwell Science).
  • A strong pedigree in UK contracting in the late 80’s and early 90’s has been complimented with work placements in the UK’s top professional practices.
  • Over 10 years exposure to international markets and co-operation with the world’s leading contractors and clients of the built environment.
  • Core skill set is founded on British quantity surveying basics but for the last 15 years or so focus has shifted to a full understanding of the many contractual mechanisms together with forensic research of project matters to understand where an entitlement might exist in order to provide solutions for recovery.
  • Wide sector experiences covering International Airports, Power Plants, High Rise offices, Solar & Wind Energy, Materials Handling Automation, Electrical and Electronic Installations, Clean Room Construction, Large Scale Residential Housing (new build and refurbishment).
